Lakers, Scouts, and other things

Been a few days… How are you?

I’m just sitting here watching the Lakers getting their collective butts handed to them by the Celtics right now. I called it several days ago – Boston in 6. It seems like that is going to come true tonight…

I’m leaving for a four day Scout Camp tomorrow. It should be fun. Not much going on for an old dog like me, so I’ll mostly spend my time relaxing and catching up on some Podcasts… ah, what a way to camp!

But really, if I didn’t have my iPod – I would go crazy and not get any sleep. The younger scouts have been known to stay up to 2 or 3 in the morning doing who knows what.

After this Scout Camp, I’ll be home for a few days mostly busy with work. Then after that my family is going to my Grandpa’s ranch in Northern California. I won’t have any internet there either. Aaaahhh!!! How will I survive a week and a half with no internet! Then after that I’m going on my Senior trip with some close friends to San Diego.

The point of all this is my posts may be few and far between between then. Hopefully I’ll make a few posts during my Senior trip and get some pictures up on my Flickr for you all to enjoy.

Well – the end of the blowout NBA Finals came is calling my name, as is mini basketball with my Little Bro Bro Ben.

Olive Garden and Working Late

I’m currently sitting in a baking (but cooling down) server room, trying to get gParted Live to work correctly and slowly digesting a huge lunch I had with a client this afternoon…

We went to Olive Garden – which I haven’t been too in years. I had some Manicotti type thing that was amazing. And don’t even get me started on their bread sticks….mmmmmmmm….bread sticks….

The client brought his Wife along and we had quite an enjoyable time. We even managed to sneak a little business in the conversation.

All in all – a very successful meeting.

As for what I am doing right now – I am cooking this server (which needs better AC) trying to extend the C Partition on a Windows Domain Controller. The previous Systems Administrator, in his infinite wisdom, made it only 12GB. So I am trying to get gParted to work so I can correct it… Its taking forever to “Scan for Devices” however…

I may just say screw it and leave and think of something else, or try the Dell OpenManage software that came with the server… not sure if that does what I need it too…

Well – I’ll think of something. In the meantime, I need a drink of water – this place is sucking the hydration right of me…

Won CiscoPress Book

I won a CiscoPress book this afternoon.

CiscoPress has started holding little contests on Twitter (that seems to be the trend now-a-days). Earlier today they were holding one. It was the first 5 people to e-mail a certain e-mail address would win SSL Remote Access VPNs by Qiang Huang, Jazib Frahim.

I hurried and e-mailed the supplied address and a few hours later got the confirming reply saying I won. Kind of neat.

It actually looks like a really interesting book and something I’ve wanted to mess around with for a little while.

Twitter is quickly becoming an addiction for me… at least I can say some good has come from it.

Welcome

I’ve never been much for Blogging – but then again, I thought I’d never create a Twitter account and actually enjoy it (http://twitter.com/bsdrocker/ follow me there!).

So I figure if I could do that, I could pretty much do anything. So here I am.
